Car broke down on the highway recently; evidently my spark plugs were the originals from 2002 lol -- need to take better care of my vehicle!
Now it really moves though, *vroom vroom*
:)
But hey, Thanksgiving! So how are the leftovers? It's only Monday after all :D I normally don't get turkey'd out until the following weekend (however, this year no leftovers).
Asides food, I have this huge third year presentation tomorrow at 2:40 PM -- biggest project of the year by far, so no pressure or anything. Gonna practice my lines immediately after this cause want to be overly familiar with it! Thankfully it's a group project so don't have to do everything solo, and ten minutes will go by quickly as we have fun (because we're so prepared). But yes, I am thankful for this experience overall.
I always chuckle around this time of year: the day after everyone says how thankful they are, people are seen running around stores trying to GET MORE STUFF and often times will throw punches to be the first to get those "once-in-a-lifetime deals".
Makes me wonder if they were truly THANKFUL in the first place.
Why is it so difficult to be content? Why can't I just be happy with what I have? Is social media to thank for this attitude? Maybe. Is it because I'm human? Getting warmer.
We like things. The more we have the more we feel accomplished and whole, but at the same time the more we want. (Sorry to break it to you, but can't have everything. There will be things that you can't have, and that's okay!)
Not every Thanksgiving breakfast will be like the one in 2013, when my brother and I awoke up to the smell of boiled crab legs on the stove. Hmm, dipping those massive legs in butter was soooo good and unexpected at the same time! It was an experience to remember, and five years later I can still smell/taste it.
The point here is that some things we can't get, and others will come and go. Nothing is eternal except for people, our souls go on and on but the THINGS we must leave behind.
I'm blessed to have made so many connections over the last few years,.A lot has happened since that Thanksgiving breakfast in 2013 (pictured on blog cover), and a lot more is in the future if the Lord wishes. Those connections are truly what makes life worth living, to commune with others.
I hope you were able to spend time with friends or family this past week, and if not, go ahead and facetime/call some right now. This wintry season makes for a good opportunity to reconnect with those good people you've grown distant from. The days off work and school allow us to recollect and plan for the upcoming stages.
No matter where you are in life, forward is always a potential direction. We're all in this together, for the long ride, so be thankful.
