TWENTY blogs already!?

So it's fair to say I've been a tad busy:

Group projects, waiting on tables, Bible studies, school assignments, quizzes and tests, cleaning for inspections, various ministries, all sorts of fantastical stuff.

And on tonight's menu we have just two chapters of reading homework and this blog (which I haven't put any thought into beforehand...)

So I'm gonna talk about something which happened some time ago in this very galaxy -- in the 15 minutes I have before bed.

*breathe*

When I was a small child, I had a gel-filled pig toy that resembled Hamm from Toy Story. This object was not your everyday child's plaything however, this Hamm was THE squishy, as well as my most prized possession from the early years.

As most toys go, the more you use the quicker you lose (can I copyright that?) and Hamm was with me everywhere.

One day, I felt something wet and sticky on my shirt while prancing around the laundry-room. My gel-filled pig was in his final moments, but my heart couldn't comprehend the loss that was to come.

SPLAT

And just like that Hamm -- or Squishy -- was no more.

I remember crying over that toy. No idea how many years ago it's been or why that memory came to me tonight; but the lesson behind the story is this...

Things we hold close can fail us, material things. We shouldn't tie our emotions and well-being to the fragile things of earth. What we should anchor our hopes and dreams in is the people around us, and most importantly... God.

ACK, two minutes!!!

See you next week -- will put more time into that post!
