I'm writing this post a little early since I'll be busy traveling and moving into my new digs... down in Texas!
Billy, make it stop! Don't show us food, not now!
Texas for me is going to be one of the biggest changes in my life (by the time this is posted I'll be mostly situated). Not only is this the farthest away from home in Minnesota, but it's the longest time I'll be away as well. My parents and brother are quite near and dear to me, and the distance apart will take a while adjusting too, though I did have experience while acquiring my bachelors in the twin cities.
The image for this post is of my first living quarters, my home away from home in St. Paul.
Besides the culture shock (and the undoubted heat) the Lone Star State will be something worthy of adjustments, I'll need to be flexible and patient with the transition.
Like with A LOT of things in life, change is a critical process -- though not as critical as how we handle and react to it.
Some changes are good, others not so good, but both are used in shaping who we are.
A prime example of this is when I decided to get my ears pierced my Junior year of college. I looked in the mirror one day and said, "Huh, I'd look rad with some studs in my earlobes" (paraphrasing). I thought about it for a good two weeks before heading down to the mall and...

Now there are shiny things in my ears.
It wasn't more than two more weeks that I had them removed, what a goof! I realized they weren't for me, and the change was less than desirable overall. What did I learn? Don't spend $80 on anything unless your positive it's a good idea. A fleck of contemplation? STOP!
Some changes we can choose, like the piercings or moving to a different state. Somethings, however, we have no control over... like a natural disaster or the loss of a loved one. Some changes are so massive that we feel like an incomplete person following the change.
Newness is freshness, and like fresh baby back ribs cooked in barbecue glaze...
Sorry, did it again.
You'd rather consume something new than something old right? Who wants old fruit and veggies? We need to expose ourselves to new things to keep our mind in top-shape. Even if we don't like the taste of that which is new, at least we have an experience to document.
I'm... gonna go eat something now.
