Billy's Blog opening week!

Raffy, the family feline, is your typical house cat. He roams outside all night doing who-knows-what and then sleeps the day away on his throne (a padded black chair he thinks is his). Sometimes after a long work shift I'll pass by the critter in his snoozed state. "Why can't I just be a cat for one day?" I'll then continue to snuggle him until he either licks or bites me (never know what it's gonna be) before heading to my room.

So here's the good news . You CAN pickup a cat lifestyle for a short while, in fact, I recommend it. Even the most successful people take lengthy breaks; vacationing is not a bad thing! You do need to be watchful of how long those breaks last however, as an extended period of relaxation can lead to something ugly known as zombie mode.

Zombie mode is a rut, a place people get stuck, wallowing in failure and often depression (sorry, got dark for a second). When someone starts down a path of unproductive tendencies it is difficult to switch back into a productive mindset. Thankfully the same works with a productive person; it's hard to be lazy if all you've known is hard work.

The bad news is you can't actually be a cat, but hey, cosplay's a thing right? You can be whatever you want to be.

When it comes to the various projects I work on, people have asked, "How do you stay dedicated, Billy?" My best answer can be summed in one word: Discipline.

"But what about motivators? What motivates you?" Motivations will fail you. That's right, look at your motivators right now. You do have them right? Look at them closely... there are times when those motivations will evaporate into smoke.

Let's say someone wants to write, publish and market a book in under six months (yikes!) What kind of things would motivate a person to do that? Personally, I wanted to create a novel that could become a movie (and do so before my move to Texas). Seriously, wouldn't that be awesome > to see the characters you created on the big screen! Now holding that daunting task under the light of reality, what's next? Stir in all the hours per week at your day job, then add a dash of confused hormonal emotions and maybe a few technical problems here and there. Any dream will be confronted with trials if it's a genuine dream. I KNOW I lost motivation some days... I could feel it at times being sucked from my soul.

So what on earth made me stay at my computer? Discipline.

Discipline is a character trait chiseled into our core by our own hands. We need to condition ourselves to work through the task before us even if... no... especially when our motivations fall through.

Shoot, I said I'd keep this short XD

Expect blogs this length or lesser in the future!
